CONCLUSION:

Among patients with stable COPD, TCM plus conventional medical treatment therapy might be associated with reduction risk of exacerbation, improvement of lung function, better quality of life and higher exercise capacity. The results were limited by the methodological flaws of the studies. High quality studies are needed to provide clear evidence for the future use of TCM.

The effective evaluation on symptoms and quality of life of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients treated by comprehensive therapy based on traditional Chinese medicine patterns.

CONCLUSIONS:

Our results suggest that acupuncture regulates inflammatory cytokines and contributes to lung protection in a rat model of smoke-induced COPD by modulating HDAC2.

Regulatory effects of acupuncture on exercise tolerance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at stable phase: a randomized controlled trial

CONCLUSION:

The acupuncture could improve the exercise tolerance in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at stable phase, and shorten the onset time of aerobic exercise. Besides, acupuncture combined with aerobic exercise could effectively improve the pulmonary function.
